Email Templates
Customize the notification emails your forms send with template collections, block editing, and live preview.
Global Template vs. Per-Form Template
FormBlade uses a two-level template system:
- Global template: Set from the sidebar under Templates. This template applies to every form in your account by default. When you update the global template, all forms that haven't been individually customized will use the new design.
- Per-form template: Set from the Email Template tab inside any form's detail page. This overrides the global template for that specific form only.
If a form has no per-form override, it inherits the global template. If you haven't configured a global template, the default Clean collection is used.
Template Collections
Each collection provides a complete set of styles for your notification emails. The collection determines the overall visual tone — colors, spacing, typography, and layout — while you control the content through blocks.
Clean
Minimal and professional. White background, subtle gray borders, system font stack. Optimized for readability with no decorative elements. This is the default collection and works well for any use case.
Modern
Rounded corners, soft shadows, and a light color palette with an accent-colored header bar. Uses the Inter font. Good for SaaS products, portfolios, and tech-forward brands.
Corporate
Structured layout with clear section dividers, a navy-toned header, and serif headings. Designed for professional services, law firms, finance, and enterprise use cases where formality matters.
Bold
High-contrast design with a dark header, vivid accent colors, and generous spacing. Uses large, bold headings. Suited for creative agencies, event forms, and marketing landing pages.
Block Types
Templates are built from blocks. Each block is a self-contained section of the email. You configure each block independently and arrange them in the order you want.
Header
The top section of the email. Typically displays the form name or your brand name. The header has a fixed position — it always appears at the top of the email. You can toggle it on or off, but you cannot move it to another position.
On Pro plans and above, you can customize the header background color, text color, and font size.
Text
A paragraph block for static text. Use it to add context above or below the submission data, such as "You received a new contact form submission" or instructions for your team.
Fields
The submission data block. This renders each field from the submission as a label-value pair. Field labels default to the form field names but can be customized on Pro plans (e.g., renaming email to Email Address or msg to Message).
On Pro plans, you can also choose between a table layout (label and value side by side) and a stacked layout (label above value).
Divider
A horizontal rule that visually separates sections of the email. Useful for separating multiple text blocks or creating visual breathing room around the fields block.
Footer
The bottom section of the email. Like the header, the footer has a fixed position — it always appears at the bottom. You can toggle it on or off but cannot reorder it.
By default, the footer contains the text "Made with ♥ by FormBlade" with a link to formblade.com. On Pro plans and above, you can edit this text to anything you like, including your own brand name, or remove the branding entirely.
Drag-and-Drop Reorder
The body blocks — Text, Fields, and Divider — can be reordered by dragging them in the template editor. Grab a block by its handle and drop it in the desired position.
Header and Footer blocks are pinned to the top and bottom respectively and cannot be dragged. This ensures the email always has a consistent structure regardless of how you arrange the body content.
Live Preview
The template editor shows a live preview of your email on the right side of the screen. The preview is populated with sample submission data so you can see exactly how the email will look when a real submission arrives.
Changes you make to blocks, colors, and text are reflected in the preview immediately. There is no need to save and send a test email to see the result.
Personal vs. Pro Customization
Here is a summary of what you can customize at each plan level:
- Personal: Edit text content in Text blocks. Toggle Header and Footer on/off. Reorder body blocks. The default Clean collection is used and cannot be changed.
- Pro and above: Everything in Personal, plus: switch between all four collections (Clean, Modern, Corporate, Bold), customize colors and fonts, rename field labels, choose between table and stacked field layout, and edit or remove footer branding text.
